Fruit-Gathering

Today I'll introduce a beautiful poem to you. The author, Rabindranath Tagore, is a very famous Indian poet. This poem is from his book Fruit Gathering.

Fruit-Gathering


吩(fēn) 咐(fù) 我(wǒ) 吧(ba),我(wǒ) 会(huì) 采(cǎi) 下(xià) 自(zì)己(jǐ)的(de) 果(guǒ)实(shí),一(yì) 筐(kuāng)筐(kuāng) 送(sòng) 到(dào) 你(nǐ)的(de) 庭(tíng)院(yuàn),哪(nǎ)怕(pà) 有(yǒu)些(xiē) 果(guǒ)实(shí) 已(yǐ) 然(rán) 失(shī) 落(luò),还(hái) 有(yǒu) 些(xiē) 尚(shàng) 未(wèi) 长(zhǎng) 成(chéng)。

Bid me and I shall gather my fruits to bring them in full baskets into your courtyard, though some are lost and some not ripe.



因(yīn)为(wéi) 季(jì)节(jié) 丰(fēng)盈(yíng),果(guǒ)实(shí)沉(chén)沉(chén),树(shù)荫(yīn) 里(lǐ) 响(xiǎng) 起(qǐ) 牧(mù) 人(rén) 哀(āi) 婉(wǎn) 的(de) 笛(dí)声(shēng)。

For the season grows heavy with its fullness, and there is a plaintive shepherd's pipe in the shade.



吩(fēn)咐(fù) 我(wǒ) 吧(ba),我(wǒ) 会(huì) 在(zài) 河(hé) 上(shàng) 扬(yáng)起(qǐ) 风(fēng)帆(fān)。

三(sān) 月(yuè)的(de) 风(fēng)儿(ér) 躁(zào)动(dòng) 不(bù) 安(ān),撩(liáo) 得(dé) 慵(yōng)懒(lǎn)的(de) 水(shuǐ)波(bō) 也(yě) 开(kāi)始(shǐ) 轻(qīng)声(shēng) 呢(ní)喃(nán)。

Bid me and I shall set sail on the river.

The March wind is fretful, fretting the languid waves into murmurs.


果(guǒ)园(yuán) 已(yǐ)经(jīng) 收(shōu)获(huò)了(le) 所(suǒ)有(yǒu) 的(de) 果(guǒ)实(shí),困(kùn)乏(fá) 无(wú)聊(liáo)的(de) 黄(huáng)昏(hūn) 里(lǐ),落(luò)日(rì) 余(yú)晖(huī)之(zhī)中(zhōng), 岸(àn)边(biān) 的(de) 房(fáng)屋(wū) 里(lǐ) 传(chuán)来(lái) 了(le) 你(nǐ)的(de) 呼(hū)唤(huàn)。

The garden has yielded its all, and in the weary hour of evening the call comes from your house on the shore in the sunset.
